Hi, my name is Tim Thistlethwaite, welcome to the Model Building ServicesMBS Models website.

After building locos and rolling stock in various scales for myself for a number of years  I started building 7mm scale Gauge O locos and rolling stock for friends. In December 2003 I took advantage of a redundancy scheme offered at my place of work and in January 2004 I set up Model Building Services and became a full time professional builder. I have been building private commission builds ever since please have a look some of my work which you can view on the GALLERY page. Early in 2015 Peter Dawson/Kemilway Coaches contacted me and asked if I would like to take over the 7mm scale loco kits from his Peter K range. In January 2015  I took over ownership of the tools that produce these locos and the 7mm Railmotor. With now owning tools and being able to have etches produced a new business has been started called MBS Models and a website created to promote these products hence the website that you are now viewing.

Promoting and marketing kits and fittings is a new venture for us we aim to improve on what we have and to add to the range. Please bear with us while we implement our planned improvements and developments, inevitably it wont happen overnight but we will get there. Information on additions, upgrades, developments and improvements will be posted in LATEST NEWS.

MBS Models have some industrial loco kits in developement , we are hoping to release a couple in 2017. An announcement of which prototype we are developing as a kit will be made nearer the release date. Updates to the industrial loco range will be posted in LATEST NEWS. The priority for now is on improving and developing the former PK range , pending the improvements all the former PK kits will be sold as Peter sold them “etches only”. We plan to produce a semi-kit which will have the etches a fittings pack , wheel bearings and handrail knobs. The kits will not have nuts, bolts, washers, wire or pickups. Some individual fittings from the fittings packs will be available seperately, see the FITTINGS page for details. Drawings and instruction were minimal or none existent with Peters kits, step-pics will be provided to aid construction . The semi-kit and instruction criteria will also apply to other kits that are added to the range. The development of the Railmotor will be after the PK locos have been upgraded. For now the only locos that will be avaiable as RTR will be the former PK ones and will only be available after improvements have been completed. On the RTR page there is an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST form for customers to fill in . This will be used to register your interest in owning any of our range as an RTR model. The intial RTR loco builds will be for the former PK range and will be built as the etches were designed for , however in the case of the NLT and the SHARPIE I am planning to offer as built versions. All the RTR details about versions , spec and availability will be on the RTR page . There will be construction notes of locos as they are built RTR on the BUILD BLOG  ( in my view this will be a good reference as pictures can often tell a better story than words )

I have no immediate plans to attend  shows as a trader, however consideration will be given to attending Guildex as a trader at some point in the future. If any of our products are being diplayed on other traders stands at Guildex I will post a message in LATEST NEWS advising which stand they are on. I do attend Guildex as a visitor every year if customers would like any products taking for pickup at the show that would not be a problem. I occasionally go to the Gauge O clubs at Preston and Morecambe. Its only an hours drive for me so if customers would like any items taking to either club it gives me a good excuse to go .

The following criteria applies to all pre-ordered items to be picked up at shows or at either of the Gauge O clubs mentioned above . All orders must be paid for in advance and payments cleared before pick-up, no money will be taken on the day of delivery. If in the event of a problem with me not attending a show or a club goods would be posted free of charge. Please be aware that if a customer does not attend a show or a club for any reason a postal charge to forward the goods to the customer would apply.

Any issues arising from the sale of any of the Peter K 7mm loco etches or the 7mm Railmotor etches directly from Peter Dawson should be taken up with him. MBS Models has no responsibility for any transactions directly from Peter Dawson. MBS Models has no connection with any other products in the Peter K-Kemilway range.

Thank you for taking the time to read this page please have a look at the other pages of my website. If you require any information on any of our products  please send an email to info@mbsmodels.com
